QLD Severe Weather Warning: Heavy Rainfall

Heavy rain developing tonight over southwest Queensland

Weather Situation:
A trough over central Australia is pulling large amounts of tropical moisture ahead of it as it moves into southwest Queensland this evening, leading to a rain band and areas of thunderstorms, with associated heavy rainfall.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast to develop over southwest Queensland during Tuesday evening. The HEAVY RAINFALL risk is most likely overnight tonight, and then again during Wednesday afternoon before easing during Wednesday evening. The HEAVY RAINFALL risk will predominantly be with thunderstorms embedded in the rain band.

Six-hourly rainfall totals of 20-30mm are likely, with localised falls up to 60mm possible. 24 hour rainfall totals of 30-50mm are likely, with localised falls up to 80mm possible.

Locations which may be affected include Thargomindah, Cunnamulla, Quilpie, Windorah, Bulloo Downs and Eromanga.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
