Source: Bureau of Meteorology

Issued at 2:12 pm EDT on Monday 24 October 2022 Flood Watch Number: 5

RENEWED RIVER RISES AND MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY FROM OVERNIGHT MONDAY

A low pressure system and trough will cross Victoria over the next few days bringing widespread rainfall over the flood watch area. Enhanced rainfall is possible in east Gippsland on Tuesday associated with an offshore low. Further rainfall is expected across eastern Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are saturated, many of which are experiencing ongoing flooding due to recent rainfall.

Renewed areas of minor to moderate flooding are likely from overnight Monday and during Tuesday in the flood watch area. In locations where thunderstorms develop, localised flooding due to heavy rain is possible. Renewed river rises are not expected to increase the currently forecast major flood peaks along the Murray River.

Major flood warnings are current for the Murray and Loddon Rivers.

Moderate flood warnings are current for the Seven and Castle Creeks, Goulburn, Campaspe Rivers and the Broken Creek.

Minor flood warnings are current for the Barwon, Ovens and King, Snowy, Kiewa, Werribee, Avoca and Upper Murray Rivers.
